TURBOVAMPS has gained a respectable following in the Chicago club scene since they began performing in 2005. The band combines catchy lyrics and adventurous riffs with old school "77" punk to create a unique sound that Jerry Only of MISFITS called "The future of punk." Andy McKluskey of the UK electronic band OMD said that listening to TURBOVAMPS brought back memories of the early days of the UK punk scene. Respectful of their roots, the band's self-titled debut album was released in June 2010 and has received considerable airplay in Chicago.
